Elementary
The Elementary School is divided into Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary sections. These sections bear key responsibilities that have been carefully designed to meet the fundamental needs of learners of different ages. While the tasks are similar, the techniques and resources used to accomplish them are distinct. Our primary school activities place a premium on our pupils developing lifelong skills and values. Our learning activities and programs are tailored to the learning styles of our learners to ensure that their individual needs are met and that their developmental processes are not hindered during their time in our citadel. As we strengthen the foundation upon which their education and skills are built, we focus on harnessing their potentials, honing their skills, and providing them with a platform to showcase their abilities while helping others discover their greatness.
In addition, our learners are assigned sets of projects aimed at solving real-life problems, both individually and in groups. They explore countries around the world and their subdivisions (states/provinces) to understand their history, resources, government, beliefs, potentials, values, and multiple skills through termly themes that are designed to teach soft skills, presentation, and values. Learners gain expertise in project-based learning, which prepares them to tackle real-world challenges. We also have selectively differentiated Reading and Creative Writing Programs that incorporate highly effective techniques for teaching young children the basics of reading and writing, particularly reports and fiction. As an institution, we place a premium on handwriting and, in this regard, we have chosen the Nelson handwriting method for its neatness and intelligibility.
Children differ in their associations, learning styles, and interests. Therefore, we employ play-way methods and gamification in their learning programs, striving to make their learning experience joyful and memorable. We teach by utilizing everything in our environment, catering for the visual, auditory, and tactile learners, ensuring that every child learns and thrives, regardless of their learning style or uniqueness. Our learners are encouraged to explore multiple intelligences, as while society focuses on cognitive skills, we further their creativity and critical thinking skills, while also enhancing their emotional intelligence through intentional programs, activities, and events.
As a British-Nigerian oriented school, our learners are trained in acceptable presentation and oratory skills. Our diction classes are deliberate, as are our special classes such as Abacus, Robotics, STEAM, Sports, and extracurricular activities. We believe in the importance of the overall development of the children in our great citadel and encourage their participation.
